Hi! In this post, I want to share a few essential tools in my studio that help me streamline my workflow.
They make filming my painting process, teaching, and documenting images much easier and more efficient while ensuring high-quality results.

SMALLRIG Magic Arm Clamp Kit
Generally, I usually use my phone for filming, and this Magic Arm Clamp Kit allows me to easily secure my phone to the edge of a table, bookshelf, or easel.
I have two of them, and they can be adjusted to any angle you need. The build quality and components are very sturdy, making it reliable for holding phones, monitors, and cameras (up to 1.5kg).
As it comes, this model doesn’t require any additional components to support most light and medium-sized DSLR cameras.
Phones, on the other hand, require a separate Phone Tripod Mount.
The only drawback is that it’s a bit short, making it tricky to film directly overhead. However, this can be easily solved by using a stand with enough height, such as a bookshelf or tripod.

Manfrotto Befree Aluminum Travel Tripod
In addition to my phone, I also use a camera for filming. The Manfrotto Befree tripod is sturdy and easy to move around, with a compact, foldable design that makes it highly portable.
The legs extend and lock smoothly, allowing for quick and effortless adjustments. Whether shooting indoors or outdoors, I believe a Manfrotto tripod is definitely worth the investment

NEEWER 2 Pack LED Light and Stand Kit
My studio has a balcony space, but aside from certain morning hours, I often find the lighting insufficient.
Additionally, clouds move quickly at times, causing my video recordings to fluctuate between bright and dark. While I don’t mind this for my personal videos, inconsistent lighting isn’t ideal for teaching videos. That’s why I decided to purchase this NEEWER lighting kit.
It’s incredibly easy to assemble and adjust in height. Besides controlling the brightness, I can also adjust the color temperature and the angle of the LED panel.
I’m really happy that I now have a stable and consistent light source throughout my painting process.
If you find the lighting too direct or harsh, you can add the Light Panel Softbox. These are super easy to fold and set up. In fact, when I stayed on Gili Air Island in Indonesia in 2024, I brought the entire lighting kit and the Light Panel Softbox with me!

IPEVO V4K PRO
I’ve been using this tool for over two years, and it has been an excellent aid for my online teaching. It’s easy to use, intuitive, and delivers clear image quality while allowing for effortless angle and focus adjustments.
The Ipevo V4K Pro also features noise reduction, and I truly appreciate that my students never hear the sound of lawnmowers outside my window.
Lastly, it folds into a compact and small size, making it easy to put into a backpack. If you need a reliable tool for video conferencing or teaching, I highly recommend this one!

Canon Lide 400 Scanner
When you want to convert your artwork into a digital file for prints or other products, you can either photograph it with a camera or use a scanner. For larger artworks, I usually take photos, but for pieces around A4 size, using a scanner is much more convenient since I don’t have to worry about lighting conditions.
The Canon Lide 400 Scanner offers a 4800 x 4800 dpi resolution, is easy to use, highly efficient, and budget-friendly. I find that it delivers excellent quality for both documents and artwork, making it a great choice for most people’s needs.
